Olde Naples - A Dynamic Waterfront Community
Olde Naples or downtown Naples, is famous for shopping, fine dining, golf, parks, waterfront vistas and its pier, built in 1888. Third Street South and Fifth Avenue shopping are probably the most famous shopping areas in Southwest Florida. With apparel shops, gift boutiques, art galleries, sidewalk cafes, landscaped promenades, and stellar fine dining, these two shopping retreats are enough to keep any veteran shopper busy for days. But that's only a scratch on the surface of what Olde Naples has to offer. Other attractions include:
- Crayton Cove, which is home to Naples Yacht Club, Naples City Dock, the famous Dock Restaurant, The Cove Inn, and the Naples Ships Store.
- Tin City offers 40+ unique shops offering antiques, natural artifacts, dining, and eclectic merchandise. Tin City is a former clam shelling and oyster processing plant turned quaint shopping village - on the waterfront, of course.
- Naples Pier has some of the finest fishing in all of Florida and you don't even need a license to participate. Go fishing or take a leisurely stroll down this 126-year-old pier.
- Bayfront is a colorful, European-architecture-inspired, eye-catching entertainment landmark in Olde Naples. With brick pathways and impeccable landscapes, shoppers and diners can enjoy fine cuisine and purchase art at one of the many galleries. Take a stroll through the marina of this upscale oasis - gathering ideas for your next boat purchase - or maybe you arrived at Bayfront by boat, as many people do.
You've Come A Long Way
A resort paradise since the 1930's, Olde Naples is a destination that’s not waning in popularity. In the early 1900’s, winters were typically the busiest time of year for the unincorporated "city." However, with only a liquor store, a gas station, and a train depot - now a historical landmark - Naples did not have much to offer. The city, which became incorporated in 1949, is extremely busy year-around now. As Olde Naples grew, many of the older and out of date homes were renovated, or torn down and replaced with modern, luxury estate residences.
